Technological Innovation

Wenco launched the mining industry’s first PC-based dispatching system in 1985. Wenco has since evolved into the leader in Fleet Management technology.

In 1989 Wenco’s first dispatching system was installed at an iron ore mine, breaking new ground in remote mobile computing with the industry’s first Mobile Supervisor’s Terminal (MST), taking the system from the office out to the pit.

Wenco introduced GPS positioning to the mining industry in 1993. Wenco launched a program to leverage a new generation of technologies; survey-grade GPS, OEM health and payload sensors, Windows graphical user interfaces, GIS, language localization, and comprehensive reporting within relational databases.

Delivering freedom from proprietary constraints, Wenco offered MS SQL Server in 2000 for the new database structure – WencoDB.

In 2003,Wenco unveiled a hand-held PDA solution for field supervisors, allowing them full access to information while away from their vehicle on foot.

Wenco introduced Mesh communications to the mining industry in 2005 with installations for Fleet Management, BenchManager, and remote field support.

Wenco integrated sophisticated Arm Geometry Sensors to the BenchManager high precision GPS product line in 2004, to calculate precise bucket positioning.

Today, Wenco’s product breadth progresses beyond controlling and monitoring productivity of the load and haul fleet to include advances in tire monitoring, real-time preventative maintenance and drill automation.
