As Wenco continues to build the next generation of technology, we need a wide range of professionals to help us achieve our objectives. We are currently looking for a C++ Software Development Technical Lead to join our head office in Richmond BC.

Reporting to the Research & Development Manager, the Software Development Team Lead is responsible for steering the team or group members in the right direction within the implementation of a software solution. They are considered technology leaders by their peers and, and even though they do not have direct reports, they are expected to mentor and lead in the technology progression within the team. They participate in the definition of the development team’s technical and coding guidelines and processes.  They will collaborate with all key stakeholders, including Product Management, Product Owners, Quality Assurance Engineers and fellow Development personnel to design, develop and test software. We are looking for someone who can apply their software engineering skills to design and implement various applications taking advantage of real time processing, web services and graphic intensive mapping and engineering dispatch applications.

Key Deliverables:

• Ability to analyze, architect, modify, write and implement software code related to the creation or maintenance of software applications and services.

• Creation of software requirement documentation, software design analysis and implementation.

• Discusses and considers the merits of various design approaches, takes a major leading role in application design and architecture.

• Ability to analyze code and application execution for optimization and performance tuning.

• Produces accurate software implementation estimates and delivers upon agreed schedule.

• Responsible for setting engineering requirements, defining the technical feasibility of the project and being able to forecast issues to avoid common pitfalls.

• Sets code standards and procedures for the software engineering teams.

• Responsible for extending the company’s intellectual property and advanced designs.


Experience, Knowledge & Requirements

• Degree in Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or a Diploma in an Engineering or Computing Technology with relevant industrial experience.

• 8+ years of practical, full-time experience developing and maintaining application user interfaces utilizing Microsoft technologies in an enterprise or commercial environment (in which 4+ years in leadership and mentorship role in a team with 4+ engineers).

• Experience using the latest MS technologies, including strong C/C++ background, .NET and Microsoft SQL Server.

• Solid experience with Windows Service, Multi-Threaded Programming, and Windows Socket.

• GNSS or GIS mapping technologies (asset)

• Microservices (asset)

• H/A Server Solution (asset)

• Time-series databases (asset)

• Ability to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Highly self-motivated and able to provide detailed technical instruction.
